Timmy Fields of Nitro, WV, a young football star for Nitro High School who loved fishing, has died after sustaining critical injuries in an accident.
Fields was hospitalized following the accident last week, with Nitro Wildcats Football announcing the sad news on November 12th.
“The Nitro Football Family has been hit with some very tragic news and at this time would like to request prayers for Timmy Fields and his family, and friends, along with all of those that know and love Timmy including but not limited to his Nitro Wildcat Football Family,” a post dated November 12th said.
Timmy fought bravely for his life but eventually could not recover. He passed away on Monday, November 18th. In a last selfless act, Timmy Fields became an organ donor and even in death is set to save 8 people and heal up to 75 others.
An honor walk was held for Smith on Monday. A GoFundMe, organized by Tracy White of Nitro, has been set up to help raise funds to help the Fields family.
“The world certainly is less bright with the passing of Timothy Fields. As you can imagine, his family, friends, and all those who loved him are completely devastated,” the fundraiser began. “We are doing our best to lighten their load and help with the financial burden a funeral can bring as they take the time needed to grieve for their tremendous loss. If you can contribute, we thank you in advance for your generous donation.”
At the time of publishing this article, the Timmy Fields GoFundMe had raised close to $6,000 out of its $15,000 goal.
