Kephas Pope, a student at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, has tragically died in an accident involving his bicycle and a car. He passed away while riding his bicycle when a speeding, out-of-control car hit a tree and hit him on the head.
The young student was walking his bike and crossing the crosswalk at the time of the tragic accident. He died from his injuries.
Pope’s aunty, Hilary Halls revealed what happened in a social media post. Narrating, she said Kephas was supposed to be in chemistry class with his sister but did not show up. She wondered where her brother was only to be shocked to discover his bike, helmet, and water bottle at the crime scene.
“Later the Dr. Informed them the car speeding, spun out of control & hit a tree that hit Kephas on the head while he was crossing the crosswalk, walking his bike, and wearing his helmet,” Halls said. “We are all in shock, but the one thing we know is where he is now. He was a godly man who had a beautiful smile & loved the Lord,”
Kephas was reportedly a great witness for Christ and tried to get people at school to join his faith.
Halls continued: “He was baptized and professed his faith. My dad often called him & encouraged him in his walk. He witnessed to people at school and had a strong year in the Lord. We miss him so much already,”
She ended her post by calling for prayers for her family including her brother, niece, and sister Miao, plus their whole family.
“We love you forever Kephas Pope and will never forget the kindness you showed us all.” she concluded.
Meanwhile, Kephas’ father, Nathan Pope organized a GoFundMe to raise funds in his son’s memory.
“I am Kephas’s father, Nathan Pope. I am starting this GoFundMe to help raise funds for Kephas’s funeral costs and to help pay for me to pay bills in order to take some time off work to mourn the tragic loss of my son, who was struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle to class at Santa Clara University.” he wrote.
